New guy from Texas

I'm Greg Young from Spring, TX. I'm an airplane nut. I fly, build and restore vintage and experimental aircraft. I own a 1950 Navion, have almost completed my 2nd RV-6 and have 3.5 Taylorcraft L-2 restoration projects. Plus I'm designing a 75% replica Corsair. The Navion and RV are sheet metal and the L-2's are tube and fabric so all need a variety of metal working skills. Assuming I live long enough to build the Corsair it will need a lot of forming for skins, cowling and fairings.

I'm just learning to OA weld and have tried my hand at forming sheet metal. I'm hoping to pick up tips and techniques as I progress and get some suggestions on tool selection.

Looks like you have a lot of cool aircraft to work on. A 75% Corsair sound like a lot of work. I am currently working on a F3A1 Brewster built Corsair. I hope you build yours simpler and with less parts. You can check out the build at ezellaviation.com Welcome to the group.

Thanks Randy. The prelim design for the Corsair looks like ~2700lb GW and is sized around an M14P engine. So the structure will be vastly simplified. Closer to an RV's than full scale Corsair. The Corsair is my favorite aircraft so I'd love to see the Brewster project. I'm in Houston so only about an hour away by Navion.
