Dimple die vs. bead roller

Hey Y'all!
I've been sidetracked on a house reno but am soon returning to my furniture making and have some sheet metal ideas I want to explore. I'm leaning towards a modern look, some aircraft influence, some hotrod, and am thinking dimple dies would be part of that look. I was looking at affordable hydraulic knockout sets and realized that they were dimensioned to pipe sizes.

First question:
Is there a source for entry-level priced pipe-sized dimple dies? I've found a few sources for pipe dimensioned DDs, but they are pretty pricey. I saw Barbed Wire Offroad mentioned in various spots but they no longer make them.

Second questions:
If I'm looking at larger diameter hole (larger than 2") or irregular shapes, could I use a bead roller to get a similar effect?

thanks.

steve

Dimple Dies

I got a set of dimple dies from TMR customs. They work well and I didn't find them too expensive. Here's a link:

Thanks Stefan/septimus. I had seen that set but I felt $500 for the set is a bit more than I want to spend for a "unitasker". Even if I pick a range from small to large i'm approaching $300. They really aren't that expensive in the grand scheme but when comparing them to the price of the cheap Eastwoods or for the price of the HF knockout press it's a bit much.

Skip/Sprint Relic, I was wondering if it is possible to get a dimple die appearance on circles using a bead roller. I'm not planning on doing production, limited number of holes, for some one-off pieces of furniture. A bead roller would give me other possibilities whereas a dimple die can simply do on thing.

thanks

Dimple dies

I think metalman Sweden had a video on how to use 2 pipes and a hammer to get the look. You might check his web videos.

Thanks Eddie!

I went to Metalman's youtube channel and immediately found some useful videos that fit my present budget.

Bill, that's an interesting site. Cool tool that I didn't know existed.

While looking around on the site I found circle fly cutters and an adjustable circle cutter using a drill/rotary tool.

Really have options that I didn't know about.
