The lower part of the firewall had a boxed reinforcement along the front face but on the CTS, it was part of the transition into the lower frame rail. When I removed the floor and firewall I left the rail with the CTS. I didn't need it. Since the 49 has a separate frame I only need a boxed reinforcement that runs horizontally from the 49 hinge pillar across the firewall and ties into the existing section of reinforcement. It also needed to be wide enough to tie the front body mount to the firewall.

Next, I started to box in the side tying the 49 hinge pillar to the CTS fire wall. The big square opening is for the cabin air filter and to oval shaped hole is where the front body harness will pass through. Still more work to do on this side.
