Spent some of the winter in Florida and just got back to it. I've been working on door gaps and redoing the door. This is the new rear door profile:
I like it a lot better. I still have some bumping to do on the rear fender in back of the door but will have to make that prettier when I have the fenders off down the road. I also redid the profile on the front of the door. Previously, the door had a vertical opening which would work with a different style hinge but the kind I have swing the door skin outward and the center of the door skin edge was hitting the body. I peeled back the front edge hem, trimmed back the steel under it, and redid the hem with the concave curve. At the same time, I reprofiled the back of the front fender. The gaps aren't perfect but every time I move one thing another moves so I'm circling in on things. I hope to get to about 95% ready for paint before I take anything off. I also did some blending to make the windshield posts fit to the cowl better. These posts are from a MG Migdet and the lower part was not a match for my cowl. I tapped up the metal so it has a tapered bubble that blends to the bottom of the post. I'll clean it up on the wheel the next time I take the cowl off. It's pretty easy with the hood off and I have the hood off because I was cleaning up the cowl flange to the firewall. Moving to the other door tomorrow...unless I get attacked by more honeydos.

The door was done by Kerry. When will you do your first start?

I've driven it many times around the neighborhood Jaroslav. If you're asking when I will finish it, I'll have to say the same thing I've said for the past 10 years....next year for sure! LOL

I like the door changes, Kerry. The changes to the rear upper corner looks like a significant improvement to me.

The door looks much better that way I can see where you did the mods on the quarter ..do you know that you can LEAD LOAD those areas and other small areas rather than put filler on them? (I believe that the body is aluminium?) Peter
