Viable technique or not, THE REAL PROBLEM is the sharp teeth on that damned hammer make the metal look like chopped hamburger meat after a dozen or so blows. I’m the guy whom has to dress every hammer he’s owned to minimize marking the metal so when I see that chopped up mess I’ve got an immediate knot in my stomach. The Eastwood write-up sounded like it might work but in reality the shrinking action is very minimal or even non-existent IMO. Does Eastwood still even sell those stupid hammers ? It seems like they are trying boost their creditability be getting knowledgeable people to do videos for them now. ~ John Buchtenkirch

That principle can be compared with a piece of paper held between your thumb and finger, when you rotate the paper it pulls the outside inwards.

the welded hazed area holds the problem. Thank you[/QUOTE]

You got it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And this is the reason why some time when you weld a panel in that manner
the center or the out side pull inwards (caused by the heat) ...meaning it's to tight, so the oil canning is caused by been to tight and not by to much metal . You would need then to stretch the weld, and then assess the situation and work from there. And yes..... most of the time the problem is fixed, BUT... SOME TIME.... after all this is done....you might need a few very small hot shrinks where it's needed

I'm not sure how close the end is, but you can now get your scotch served in Hell with ice
