Default Ball slide for adjuster component???

Some where or the other, I came up with a Del-Tron ball slide model S3-2

Deltron Product SpecificationsEmail this page Print Close Ball Slide Assemblies - Inch Family: S3 Model: S3-2 Price: $ 122.00 Clear Anodize - Standard Black Anodize
The standard finish is a clear anodize carriage and black anodize base. Black anodize carriage and base is available at no extra cost.

Carriage 4 Holes (I)10-32 UNF-2B ThreadBase Hole d.204Base Hole D1.328Base Hole h.205Counter Bore Screw Size#10

The specs didn't come over but the link to the page is:

http://www.deltron.com/search/Slides...aspx?pkid=2937

It has mounting holes front and back and I'm wondering if it could be used as the vertical guiding mechanism for either an Ewheel or possibly a recpriocating machine. I've no experience with these things but they have virtually NO play. It would be really simple to bolt this to a mounting plate and bolt a piece of 2x2 aluminum or steel to it...that is bolt the quill to it. Don't know if it would handle the load...

Anyone ever been around these things to see what kind of abuse they will take?

Kerry, that is what I used for the slide on my yellow hammer. Not the same brand, but they are interchangeable.

Thompson and THK make them as well. If you can wait a couple of weeks, I'll send you one. They are in the garage right now, and I know I'll run across them when I'm moving everything out.

I might even have the right size. the only one you can't have is my spare got the yellow hammer.

Wait a minute! I think I know where you got that Deltron slide!

Didn't you get that from me at the '08 April Fool's meet?

Could be Tim...Did I also get a bunch of 1" round linear slides? They were in the same 'pile' in my shop....

Periodically I did around on my workbenches just to re-discover some stuff I forgot I had...just like Christmas

I have toyed with that exact idea for a linear slide for quill movment on an e-wheel, and an over center quick release mechanism, but never got beyond basic design stages. I still have the slide and mount, and it is more than strong enough to handle any load on an e-wheel. the track itself is slightly bigger than 1 1/2", and the slide block is 4" x 5" or thereabouts. I was going to mount the block to the frame, and mount my upper wheel below the track. Or i was anyway when plans schanged at the time for me

Pretty much the same idea as I had Marty. Bolt the quill to it and it would be similar to the dovetail setup on the big machines. These things are pricey but cheap if you find them on Ebay or in Tim's scrap bin deals trunk. I may have to build one to try it out...

Yep, I had some 1" round slides there too - just the ball bushings, right?

It's worked for me so far.
