Hi Sollis. The wheel well was made in two sections and the rest was four corners - easy! lol.

Sollis, I have a lot of photos of the build of this car so I will show more detail when I have had time to upload the photos.

Below shows the ash frame when it came in to my workshop mounted to the chassis. This is a replica but is accurate in every detail. I have made a good number of sets of wings for SS100s and clad a few bodies also over the years. Some original and some replica. (Even replicas are very valuable)

Several areas of the frame needed to be sorted out. The size of the timbers in the door frame and the door posts should be the same for example but were not and we had to laminate extra wood on several areas. We had to change the shape of the doors and laminate extra wood for this. The back of the body frame was not finished off and we sorted this area out as well.

Below is the scuttle area where the windscreen bolts, as you can see the timber is low. if I had clad this the ally would be dented in to meet the timber when the screen posts were bolted in place. (and the screen post would be mounted twisted.)

Below we have laminated extra wood in this area too.

The rebate where the bonnet (hood) will sit was not deep enough. I could tell by looking at it it was not deep enough to allow for the several thicknesses of ally and the bonnet tape that are supposed to fit in this area.

The rebate was made deeper, this would have been a lot easier to do when the frame was built. It is because I have built several of these cars that I knew to rectify these things. There were lots of other little things wrong with the frame but lots of little things add up to a lot of time spent on a frame that was supposed to be 'done'. Things that the customer thought he had paid for and I had not expected.

Crickey, your not only a fantastic metal shaper, but could also make a good chippy as well.
Great work..Mate love it.!

Thanks John, most of the wood mods done to this ash frame were done by my employee James. James is pretty good at woodwork. I did train to do ash frame work and it is a necessary part of the work we do but we specialise in metalwork.

Hi Ian, I will show some more as soon as possible - its the time it takes to upload photos that takes the time.
