Still messing with these tail lights. you can see that the CTS tail light is about twice the size of the 49 housing.

I have to eliminate as much as possible inside this monstrous CTS housing to get everything to fit into the new 49 housings without eliminating anything functional. I trimmed down the plastic chassis that holds the LED lights, the processor, and the service connector. I had to eliminate 2 rows of LED lights because the stack was too tall.

I also finished making the lens for the right side, so I'm ready to start the final fitting of the lights into the housings.

Every time I look at this thread Jack, I learn something else that I did not know. Hell, I didn't even know what I didn't know.

OUTSTANDING Jack…….. certainly way beyond the scope of the average body man. I wonder how many old timers will end up squinting their eyes trying to remember what year car they saw those taillights on ? Will you chrome the housings to make them look even more OEM ? Light-em up (if you have the time), I’d love to see how it looks lit with those LEDs. ~ John Buchtenkirch

I second that. Really pushing the envelope. The tail lights really did it for me.

The benefit of writing all of this project down will be to no longer have to explain every detail over & over & over again whenever someone genuine asks how, what and so on......

Looking great, Jack.
