I always put on gloves for work. I have no heated workshop. The temperature as outside. Rust does not attack intensively.

rust
I love Cortec products for corrosion protection. No mess, no clean up. The only problem is when I forget to use them.

Gibbs brand penetrant all around the shop. I try to keep a coat on all tools. Heat in shop helps a lot .Extra fans in the spring thaw.

Phosphate
I make my own phosphate solution for steel and iron tools.
I use 88%W/W orthophosphoric acid mixed in the ratio 15% into tap water with a sprinkle of sodium nitrate in it. Works well to protect tools I them dip them in oil and hang them up gives a dry film similar to when they were first produced. Lasts for ages this is well tested - I live in Wales!
