Post Aluminum Panel.

hello there. I am looking for an answer of one question in my mind. and that question is.
Do you anneal Aluminum before hammerforming & heat treated when done?.
I was curious & hoping an expert member to answer this.

1100 seires you do not need to anneal 3003 you should not need to anneal these are not heat treatable.3003 will work harden very slowly. I believe the others depending on the state of hardness it is purchased in , and yes you may have to anneal as you go .
you will find 7075 probably not workable and 6061 pretty hard to work .
some depends on how much shape you are trying to put into the part

I agree.

... although you are not saying what you are working on so we are guessing in the dark....

Kent, as a resource, is probably second only to the ASM-4 (American Society for Metals Book on heat treating)

I can add, as to 7075, that any forming you'd want to do with it "happens" above 300 degrees. I believe I've seen some 7075-O, but not worked with it.

FWIW

Recently had some annealed to T0 so it could be formed and welded. Worked really well at room temp but hardened rapidly.
