Now I out this on my digitizer so I can make my sheet metal blank on the CNC. Boy does this speed things up, both the digitizer and the CNC.

Oh, here is to where the template REALLY gives you a bunch of information. If you can see the area where there are wrinkles in the bends, that tells you that area is going to have to be stretched when being formed.

I forgot to post this first, but I make a template just for the wood buck so I could cut both sides.

So after some hammering and dolly work we have a finished piece.

I should have taken a couple more pictures but I forgot.

That's all for today.

Hopefully will be getting the frame started very soon. In the mean time I took a mag drill and marked all the places for holes in my welding table. Man that took awhile. Now I can start with some fixtures and get my frame and cage worked up.

So I had some time today, a few hours, to work on the FJ 40. I figured I needed to get the dash done so I could continue forward to the cowl. So what I did was took a rough paper pattern of a 40 than I have in the shop right now and take it to my digitizer and traced that out so I could basically make a fixture so I can mark my bead lines quickly and not have to draw it out manually. I know this is bad but I really have been dreading making this dash because of the shape it was. I knew that it would take some time and a lot of layout. However I was incorrect and it only took me about three hours to make this dash from scratch never have done this particular dash before.

Yes, I am admitting that I delayed this project just a bit because of this dash. Now that this is done I will attach the a pillar's and go ahead and finish the cowl. Maybe tomorrow...

Really sorry for the delay. Been really busy getting some projects finished and out of the shop for new equipment that is in the process of being installed. Pictures for attention.

Ok, I know there has been a long delay in this project. All the training on this new equipment has been crazy. However at night I have been taking my 2D patterns and turning them into 3D patterns and assembling them. It makes it so much easier to plan everything.

So you're basically building a Toyota land cruiser from scratch right?

That's what it looks like to me.
I was just looking at one today on eBay in very good condition, thinking it looked quite cool.

I'll be following along. This is looking good thus far.
