Default First time up for an old fabricator

This forum is a bit confusing for an old dude like me, but I guess now I'm
supposed to tell ya'll a little somethin about me.
I'm retired now for 14 years from the Fermi National Accelerator Lab. I was
a Sr. Tech there for 30 years. Prior to that I ran the welding fabrication
portion of a family business for a decade. Dad was an old time mechanic
trained in the 20's so my brother and I were always messing with cars.
Over the years I've raced midgets, built and flew a biplane in aerobatic
competition and since retirement in 2015, have had a couple of early 50's
Chevy pickup trucks the I've restored (not hot rods) and drive weather
permitting. I've ridden motorcycles (not HD) for 62 years now and still
have a couple that I ride.
For the last several years I've been building a Cyclekart, which will have an
aluminum body copied after a 1929 Riley Grand prix car. For the body work
I've built a bead roller, an English wheel, many hand tools, i.e. slappers,
T-posts, shot bags, blocking hammers, etc.
I've joined the group to see what sort of secrets I can learn from this forum.
I'm 77 and am looking forward to another 23 years and still have a lot to
learn.

Welcome to the group Denny. Sounds like you are a doer and builder.
Making your own tools and machinery is old school craftsmanship.

Welcome aboard, Denny.
I like old bikes and am particularly fond of the twin-cam Pierce single.
Glad you got to fly an old bipe in competition ....

( I was scheduled to teach at a "Fermi Lab" last year, but things got complicated.)

It's only metal....
