Man, Will- Very cool doesn't begin to cover this thread. Somehow I missed it until just now. Congratulations and great job.

I've been thinking about you a lot for the last 2-3 days while working on finishing this cowl plenum breather project, especially about making it work with the metal you gave me so it has legit NASCAR roots. Needless to say- You're as legit as it gets. Very, very cool.

This is about it guys! Got invited to the shop on Tuesday for the group debriefing meeting and managed a few more pics. Three cars in the shop were 'wrapped' in the old #96 layout, and I noticed that the advertising items and shirts also had the old #96 in the background. The picture of the spare motors is only one area, there were eight more across that room. The 'clean' car was on display in their front entrance. The red tool is for building upper control arms. The metal panel is one of the ones that I straightened out prior to the race and it got dinged up again, and I was standing at the car as they were tearing it down for refreshing and Jeffrey signed it and gave it to me. He's a class act for such a young man.

Hi Will, so pleased you are having so much fun, not often we get the chance to revisit times gone by. I can't remember how long ago you sent me that photo at the top of this thread which I still have on file. It is very obvious the new team highly respect your achievements and believe you have more to give, this seldom happens and I am very pleased it has happened to you. 96 lives on, congratulation.

Went back to NASCAR country (Mooresville, N.C.) to visit the 96 Gaunt Brothers Racing shop to deliver some drawing that I made for them to make a tire/fender clearance tool like I had in the early days. They had shown some interest and I sad that I would make them a drawing. If the driver 'kisses' the wall and has a flat outer tire, you stop the car 3' short and insert the 4" roller and tell the driver to go 3'. Jack the car up and change the tire and set it down, insert the 2" roller, drive another 3' then get the hell outta Dodge. This give complete tire clearance with out the time and danger of using the hammer and pound method. While I was there, I helped unload the cars from the Las Vegas race. Driver went entire race without a scratch.

I included a picture of Dale Sr. that shows the origin of the "Damn I'm Good" T-shirts. They obviously come in different sizes.

Also stopped by Ray Evernhams shop to get a look at the vintage Indy car of Mario's that won his class at Pebble Beach this year.
