I was fortunate enough to spend some time with Kent last April when some of these parts came back from heat treating. Kent explained that often during heat treatment thin aluminum can distort. It is a real testament to his craftsmanship, and long experience, that his parts DON'T. The amount of shape in these P-51 parts is extreme. Very beautiful, and also very inspiring.
Congrats Kent.

Congrats Kent, well deserved! Thanks for all the input you provide on the site for all of us still learning the craft.

Congrats, Kent.
Extraordinarily deserved. Kudos for all the contributions you have made here. Even more significant are all the contributions you have made elsewhere. I was aware of your web presence way, way, back when you posted pics and procedures of your "Ferrari built from 12 photos series". https://www.tinmantech.com/html/ferrari.php It was one of my first bookmarks on my first personal computer. I shared it with my HS students. Your contribution to air hammer technology alone is worthy of acknowledgement. One can then add in O/A aluminum welding preservation, historic research, metallurgical study....the list goes on... Your scientific, methodical, and research-based approach to problem solving should serve as a model to us all. As is your willingness to so openly share your hard-earned knowledge with others. By all measure, not an insignificant gesture. You are much more than a shaper of metal. On a personal level, thanks again for all hours of seminars at Oskosh through the years. Hope to see you again there next year... Mark from Illinois

Don't be disappointed at no response. I think he might be working on a project out of town

Congrats
I've been to several of Kent's seminars and they are worth the effort. If you get the chance, and the seminar is at his place, he rents the lower rooms in the house to attendees - I'd recommend it. And the food is great.
Sometimes (more frequently than I'd like to admit) it takes me some time to get my head around what he's trying to communicate - but then there's that "ah ha" moment. Well deserved Tinman.
