Default Hello to you from germany

Hi!

My name is Jan. I'm from south-eastern germany, the black forest region. I work in a classic car garage, we do mostly mercedes and porsche plus air cooled vws (mostly the busses/vans). I sort of slipped into the role of being our "panel guy", not planing to become it. Since we need to deal a lot with rust, I'm having a lot of work.

The thing is; it used to be easy to get repair panels. But it's starting to get bad, both in availability & quality. I'm not a trained panel beater. So far it was simply not necessary to recreate complex panels. But I want to step up my game, that's why I joined here. The time will come where I just have to recreate panels. I want to learn, I want to progress. I want to get better at what I'm doing. With the basic tools I got (welder, tin snips & a hammer).

I'm interested in building an eglish wheel and a pullmax style machine.

So basically - I've come here to seek inspiration, to learn. And sometime give back! I don't take it for granted when people share theyr knowledge & wisdom with others they don't even know. I'm already thankful this place exists!

Kind regards,
Jan

Thanks for the welcome!

Here are a couple of (bad, sorry) pictures from our workshop...

So - lots of work... And I want to get a lot better at it, as I said. There's noone to teach me, but myself. And all the generous people on here. And again - I'm thankful for anyone whoe shares theyr knowledge. I hope that one day I can do the same and pass on my knowledge

Kind regards,
Jan

Welcome aboard

Willkommen im Forum

It seems pretty crowded with all the stuff going on in the shop, do you have apicture of your working area?
It's a shame, that you're on your own when it comes to metal work, but with determination and the help of this board I'm sure you'll pull through.

Hey Jan, hope you are doing well! Happy to help, I'm near Frankfurt/Main.

Made a couple of tools the recent years, you can come over to my place to have a look and to check how they work.
