If I’m remembering correctly CP called it an air reservoir tank on their original blueprints. Personally it’s a stupid idea that I don’t recommend anyone copying, I can’t see any performance difference between the 36” hammer in the photo and my 24” hammer that doesn’t have one so it was a waste of my time fabricating it. Live & learn --- hopefully. ~ John Buchtenkirch

Working height
I have a 12" CP that's on a home made stand. Working height is way too low. I usually like my machines about elbow height, and am planning on building a new base for it to get it up to that height. Any other suggestions?

Brad, those photos are probably well over 15 years old. When Grumman was auctioned off I bought every planishing hammer they sold. All of those hammers are long gone (sold) except for the ones I still use in my own business. Sorry ~ John Buchtenkirch
