Default Cobra DCH 2000 welding torch

I would like to buy a welding torch Cobra 2000 so can you give me some more information about it please. I know it is very expensive but if it is made in USA i think it is good quality and they say you have life warranty. I have got an throatless shear a copy of Beverly shear and I am not so impress with it so i told myself i will not buy Chinese made tools again.I live in UK and i know i have to pay for the shipping but i was thinking it will be a tool that I can use for a long time to weld with.

Constantin, check out Jim Spradley at: http://www.cut-like-plasma.com/dhc2000.htm

He's a great guy and a supporter of the community as well as a shaper in his own right.

Hi Constantin. There are a few people on here that use them. I have one, have not had a chance to use it yet. But I lent it to a friend of mine, and he loved it. Went and ordered his own. Using it for all the welding on his hot rod, he is building. You can find them on second hand on ebay. I bought one for $20. But I was very lucky, buy it now. I just had too. You can also buy all the nozzles and parts for them. They fit the older models too. There are you tube video of people using them. They seem to like them. Hope this helps.

I have two, and use them often. You can go from welding sheet metal, change a tip, and weld cast iron with the same pressures. I love it, wouldnt give it up. Well worth the cost, and spend the money for good regulators.

I use a normal welding torch, just a cheap one. I can do anything I want with it so why spend all that money?. More important is the gauges. Cheap gauges will work but if you buy quality multi stage (as opposed to single stage) guages you will have a more steady flame and they will operate at low pressure. The cobra weldin torch has been sold under several other names here in the UK and in Australia. I (reluctantly cos I don't like BOC) recommend BOC gauges. Best quality available.

Default Cobra torch

Hi David,
At College we have Murex oxy welding torches .Are they made in U.K. or China? So do you recommend me to buy Multi Stage Regulators and buy something cheaper because it is working the same .I want to know if the cheaper ones are reliable just wondering.

It's not so much a matter of single or dual stage but rather the ability to keep a proper flow rate at lower pressures. Talk to Jim Spradley, the fella Kerry mentioned, he has some he can recommend.

Sure you can use a reg ol torch. Mine, I can blowtorch a big rusty bolt, do leading, weld a cast iron manifold, and weld sheet metal, just buy changing tips. Since I do each of those jobs often enough, I find a lot of value in that. Plus, if you get the knack, it WILL cut like plasma.

Its all in what you plan on doing with it.
