Nothing sounds better than when your kid come in carring a box saying daddy you got a package, its heavy. Steve Hamilton sent me some very nice tools. He sent me a chisle that he welded and tapered a piece of spring steel for repairing creases or starting a crease. He also made a dolly for general use and for wired edges. I cant wait to get out and try them out. Thanks Steve.

Here are the tools that made me cry with joy! That whole set of Chasing tools (less the two I just Had to buy!)plus the hammer, and a bag of looks like homemade? pitch.

The pitch is much better than what I have been using for Copper- it has a longer open time and is softer than my Red German pitch! Gene? Is that your secret recipe?

I knew my lil aliminum bowl would come in handy!

Shawn, I'm happy. Did you take any pictures of them?

Shawn sent me two small wood handled vixen files-one flat, one convex.

I have yours in the box. Most of these guys could guess what you're getting.

John

Nope, it is just the medium pitch from Northwest Pitchworks.

I bought about 30# of pine tar to play with my own recipes but haven't done that yet.

I said I would send the tools I used to make the humming bird, so I pulled em off the bench. Now I have to go to the warehouse (cabinet by my desk, when I need one of them) The pitch was part new and a couple chunks off the back of pieces I was working on.

SOrry John, I didn't snap any pictures of them. I let my now 13 year old brother-in-law do all the cutting/sanding/routing/staining to show him how to use the tools, and let him decide when they were good, so that is the reason for the imperfect nature of them. I thought it would add to the nature of the tool exchange to get another young person involved in the crafts, and even though they're far from perfect, it won't take away from the usefulness of the tools themselves.

Being a wood guy, I wouldn't be sad if you make new holders for the files, haha

Here's what I received, it is AWESOME! The handle where your hand goes is kind of stippled for grip, and the rest is all smooth. I love it, thank you John!

Shawn, that is a beautiful hammer. In case you don't know, John Jordan is a world class wood turner and quite famous in the wood turning world.

Thumbs up What a surprise...

The Fedex truck backed in our snow covered drive today as I hadn't plowed.

(It is going fast but yesterday's 6" of rather wet and heavy "partly cloudy" was not a welcome addition to spring...)

Fedex . . . I didn't order anything . . . Must be for Chris...
Went out to the truck and the guy handed me a big heavy box that said, to Gene and Chris

hmmmm return address Huntsville,, Barb Lawrence ! ! !

Brought it inside and we opened it up.

It was really well packed but when we finally got down to the goods we could see why.

my jaw is still hanging.

Thought this was a tool exchange . . .

and it is, but right there on top of the tools was this beautiful copper bowl.

Barb, You have outdone yourself.

That is magnificent.

Once we had recovered from finding the incredible bowl we pressed on and found some really nice tools.

A marine grade plywood workstation with a hold down and a system of blocks to work on that fit into a socket under it. (a steel bench block, wood and hardwood ply ones of various sizes and two rubber ones of different durometers (hardness))
besides that there was a small stake made from a railroad spike with a polished head and a hand carved monogrammed tool rack. (I put a couple tools in it for the photo.)

What can I say. I am overwhelmed.

This is some really nice stuff.

Thank you Barb.
