Was hopeing Ron Crovel would send us something....Sat in on his alum class...he made a small 34 ford rear fender. used the wheel to put some crown in the topor outside part.....then ran the part through the 45 raidus die to bring the sides over. next he made the outer side....45 ed the top edge and tacked the 2 parts together......the next part wa the wire edge..all done by hand...a peice of 1/2 in sq stock with a slot in it to start the wirt grove.added the wire and crimped the end and ran it through the bead roller to wrap the material around the wire............Next was a little set of dies to put the 3/8 stifing bead around the finder. Then he welded it up and metal finished the wel seam..Looked just like a 1/3 size 34 ford fender...all by hand in about 2 hours explaneing each step...I think he has tapes of makeing this finder..................check him out..smart guy ! Tell him Barry sent you......................................Barry

I bought a set from Joe recently, and the quality is top notch. The only problem with his dies is they are backwards. I had to modify them to turn them around. If you have a big panel you want to edge you cant do it with Joes. You are only limited to the throat depth of your machine. I have been using this style of die for years. The ones I have, I made myself, and they look just like the ones Ron Covell sells. I sent Joe pics of mine, hopefully he will change his!

theres a tip for you Joe
it seems that they may need to be manufacture to suit outside rolling as mentioned by the guys on there \.

Geez just looked at the usa ebay so many ewheel goodies for sale sadly about the only thing we get in AU is cheap chinese crap and postage from usa isnt cheap for heavier items.

i guess thats the difference between 20 odd million people and 100's of million much larger market means more competition

:-)

I can't post pics here, too much trouble! All you have to do is machine the slots for the drive pins. I have a Pexto roller.

I'm a machinist, and have a mill and a lathe so I make my own dies. But if I didn't, Joe would be on top of my list!
His quality is top notch!

It looks like Joe runs the metal into the dies holding it vertically . Using it that way, his set up makes sense.
