Looking good! I know what you mean by toolmarks. I work mostly in ali and I can't avoid some toolmarks. Put a nice relief on all your hammer faces. This way the edge won't dig in as soon as you tilt the hammer a bit. And use wooden mallets like for lead work.

Your making great inroads Jack, and It's fantastic to see your mobile and continuing to make some nice panel work.

I needed to make the left and right support brackets for the gutter area. Nothing fancy, there will be a lot more structural work back here. This deck will have to support a lot of weight and stress. It is replacing the support lost by removing the top and 6 pillars, deck lid hinges and gas springs have to mount here, upper seat belt mounts, there'll be 4 latches that will hold the lift-off roof and probably a half dozen other things I've forgotten.

Looks factory. Nicely done on that tight inner curve with the step roller too.

Starting the skin for the right side. I cut a sheet from the original template and started wheeling it out.

A little shrinking here and there then roll the outer edge radius over.

Check the shape and keep trimming and tweeking until it looks like a body panel rather than a potato chip. It's pretty close. I need to do some more work at the rear where it meets the gutter and the front corner near the door jamb. It's pretty close now but it will probably take me most of a day to bring the last 10% in. Good job for tomorrow.

Those panels are not easy and the result looks the bomb.
If you set your wheel to no pressure (loose) you can put the curve/shrink gradually in with a normal steel upper when you can manage to keep the panel in arrangement during. Top job! Frank

I'm going to try that, Frank. The whole panel is laying tight on the buck except the front right corner where the curve comes up to the door. There's about an eight square inch area that's up about 1/4".
When I wheeled the first half, (the left side) I had too much pressure on it and the shape came up quickly. I wanted to do another pass with tighter tracking but couldn't for fear of raising too much crown. Do you think if I went over it with no pressure I could smooth out the tracks without raising it anymore?

You can try a washover but you'll need some pressure to take out tracks. When you get too much crown just stretch the sides and it wil go down.
Greetings, Frank
