Default Baileigh is looking for ideas for a new contest / giveaway

Hey guys, it's Shane from Baileigh here in Wiscosin.
We Need some ideas!!

As many of you know, we have had a couple contests on other metal shaping and car forums and have given away some sweet metal fabrication equipment to support the metal shaping and Hot Rod crowd.

The Hot Rod crowd has been good to us.

We are coming out with a couple new sheet metal shaping products and a tube bender that will be a perfect fit for the metal shaping and Hot Rod / restoration crowd.

Deep Throat Foot Operated Shrinker / Stretcher with 6" Throat Depth

RDB-050 manual tube bender

Deep Throat Electric Bead Roller with 36" Throat & 16 gauge Capacity

So, we are kicking around the idea of having another contest or giveaway. Interested? We would like some feedback from you to come up with some creative ideas for a contest.

Got an idea? We are all ears.....

Out of these 3 machines, what one would be the better prize?

It would be the bead roller for me.Hands down.

I would defiantly keep it to where anyone could be involved with the contest.I also think you should pick a group of judges to pick the winner.Pick people from Baileigh to be your judges.

I need a bead roller real bad so I was planning on entering. You can't win if you don't play.

Give us some time to put the thread together,I think I would need two weeks to do what I would like to do.

I don't even need it, but I'd go for the tube bender..........I already have shrinking machines and a bead roller Then again, it'd be a challenge to get me to play the game with my schedule the way it is

As far as ideas for a contest? I probably wouldn't much help there. Especially for a contest here, we would, in my opinion, really need something where everyone could play and would offer an interesting challenge for the newbies and the seasoned vets...............and would get people doing some metalshaping. Hell, I need help getting ME to do some shaping

That sounds like a good idea, but right now it is awfully parallel to MetalMeet and the HAMB (we share a good number of members with one or both of those).

However, since Baleigh would be sponsoring the contest, in my opinion, they can certainly do as they please I know that Baleigh, in the past, has sponsored Tech Week on the HAMB and made some very satisfied winners!

That said, I can't think of anything better for a metalshaping site than a contest that is all about "Look what I did! Here's how you can do it too!"

Shane I am all for a tec article but you need to set some guide lines some of us are well equipped yet others have the very bare minimum. So my suggestion is keep it simple as far as tools used O by the way I could use a tube bender I don't have one yet but been eying yours unless you want to put up your power hammer Danny.

Shane are you talking about having the contest here or are you talking about the one you are doing on H.A.M.B?

Just kicking around ideas guys. Yes, the HAMB contests have been a huge success. We are going to be running one here in a month or so on that board. I'm just sending out some feelers on several forums to see how many guys out there are interested.

I like the "look what I can build" kind of contest. Sounds like fun....and yes we would want to take care of the "little guys" if possible.

Keep the ideas flowing guys.....some good stuff here.

I think a tech article contest (how to make a metalshaping 'thing' ...shape or tool) would be the most level playing field.

Not sure which tool I'd like...any reason you couldn't do a winners choice?

Since this is a site that is about metal shaping the contest should be limited to metal shaping projects or tips and techniques on how to shape metal. Building machines and tools are great but think we should have people show what they can make with the tools and skills that they have. The contest should be a "how to" format with pictures and narrative.

Since people have different tools and needs, the prize should be the winners pick from a selection that the sponsor of the contest offers.
