I'm watching as well. I have to make comparable piece- with both glass and boot/trunk lid sides- for repair around rear window of my Galaxie. It has a square corner for glass fitment. Hoping to do it better. I'm already good at splitting or patchwork welding......

Thanks for posting these pics, Neil.

those corners you can see are the bonnet frame I made a while back, they are in this thread somewhere. if I gave any advice about forming these type of corners, would be to have some extra material so you can stretch that before you start to form your edges. as you start to form your edges the material you stretched the crap out of will start to tighten up, because you are using that to form your edges.

this is only what I have thought about while talking to Peter about the openings he forms by hand. he's never actually told me the way he does it but he talks about having the material there to work with, but keeping material thickness. I guess he does the same, stretches the crap out of the material he is going to cut off.

or I'm wrong and he does it another way lol

i can remember when i started this car, the amount of lead i removed from around the window was shocking. the window flange is a piece of spot welded angle around the window aperture and then the screen shape made with lead. i don't mind using a little but nowhere near as much as the factory. but then again, i'm not knocking these bodies out to make a profit so i can see why they did what they did.

almost finished this panel now, just a little bit of fetling here and there and tip the edges down the door gaps and the indents for the wiper spindles, but i will put those in when i have the dash made and mounted.

Fantastic work Neil!

What about a jiggly machine video; I loved your build-thread about it.

Cheers Charlie
