The same seller also sells a reprint of a book called "Lofting And Layout" which I just received and it is also very informative.

There is an an Australian web site that sells all 26 chapters of pdfs for $15.00
plans4u ??

Keep in mind it was pretty much created by Dept of the Navy for training, but folks have been selling reprints for ages.

If it is (apparently) material that is beyond copyright protection can anyone who has the PDF books load them onto this site fro free distribution?

Published by the Navy, it is almost certainly public domain. I sure wouldn't pay some kangaroo jockey for a book produced at the US taxpayers' expense.

The Navy Department Library has non-circulating hard copies. (Some publications are available thru inter-library loan through your local library.)

https://n94032.eos-intl.net/N94032/O...ngleSelected=1

I have a request into the Library to see if, by chance, it is something they have digitized already.

As an aside, I looked around the library, found other old aviation titles that would be of interest to us here, like aircraft riveting, aircraft tooling, etc, but they were also non-circulating.

09-16-2014 edit info: renewed the above link, seems it times out or something. Today's link is different than yesterdays. Yesterday's link did take me to a Navy Library Page just now, but with an error message. If it doesn't work when you try it, near the Navy page top click search, simple search, and then put the title in and it will find it.

I Have a complete navy set that consists of 29 books and a rare set that was put out by British aircraft ministry. I could see how much it would cost to scan them if there is interest.
