This is DAMN FINE WORK!!! It is clear that you have unencumbered paths between your vision, your brain and your hands. Even a quick look at the cleanliness of your shop reveals your ability to focus and maintain your direction. You will never regret the acquisition of a CNC torch or plasma cutter. A small water jet will save additional time as the increase in penetration power and the ability to minimize the scarf angle, and a resulting increase in accuracy will greatly reduce 'dress up' time of the cut parts. If I can catch the water jet guy at the right time after he has installed a new nozzle, I have been able to press in bronze bushings without any machine work, and go directly to using a tap for threads. I have had the privilege of visiting some very high end shops, and yours compare very favorably! As our good friend Per was prone to say....'that's some good sheet'!

This thread is quite an education- thank you for the time and willingness to share & post. Very cool.

Will's post came up with mine and I was thinking the same things about your clean, well-organized shop.

Thanks for sharing. I always get overwhelmed by structural work. I have a floor to do on a 40 Chevy Coupe in the near future. It will be fitted on a much newer chassis. Seeing your floor work gives me allot of inspiration!

Thanks for the compliments. I’m glad the project is useful in terms of information as well as interesting to follow along with. There are times I think the project is sluggish, but when I look back I’ve come a long ways since starting on it in April. It’s a slower process with one person doing the work, but I prefer it that way. I always have a plan in my head (doesn’t always work out) but it’s hard to convey my thought process or vision to others.

The floor and inner structure is a big challenge to not only be structurally sound but also be visually nice. I know it may seem odd to spend so much time on areas that will never be seen, but I like clean and precise work and in the end each time you get sloppy or not as accurate the problems add up and multiply in the long run

Thanks also for the compliment on the shop. We have a small shop, but we try to keep it as organized as possible.

I forgot to mention...stop by whenever! Obviously this project will be here and we typically have more restoration type projects going on as well.

Good job.
What thick sheet did you use on the floor?

Dane mighty fine work.A question was asked about drive shaft removal .When I build tube structures and I want to be able to service the vehicle later I use these tube joints that the offroad guys use. They are very strong and very clean looking once the welds are dressed .They don't mess with the clean look of your design like two bolt flanges do.They are available in different diameters and wall thicknesses.https://www.kartek.com/parts/interlo...ll-tubing.html. Bob.
