Careful with those gears! There are more than a few lathes around that are missing teeth on the back gear from the impact load of someone whacking a pry bar clamped in the chuck. If your chuck has a ring around the back with holes or slots for a spanner, it’s probably a "L" type mount. Post a picture if you can or look up pictures of lathe chuck mounts and we can go from there.

I googled a sheldon price list that mentions spindle thread is 2 1/4" x 8 tpi. And a few more specs:

If you have the long taper you need the spanner for the nut!
