New to the forum
Greetings,
Been moving & shuffling paper for just about 35 years with the end in sight. I should be retiring within the next 6 months. When I have had time over the last 30 years, I have focused on working/restoring old FJ40s. I did make time along the way to get in a bit of fishing. My grandfather was, I am told, a master machinist. I was way too young to learn his craft and he left us far too soon. I have labored with that thirst and memory of those monster lathes and other equipment he had at the plant. And that is how this journey has brought me to the point of fabrication and machining to calm the yet fully untested thirst. No doubt I have a lot to learn. the good part is that the creatures I wish to repair has far simpler lines than so many other projects. No illusion on my part, just a desire to get up in the morning and smoke my cigar with a cup o coffee and get to it. At present, I am on my quest for equipment. High on my list is a Pullmax and other old-school tools. Maybe one day, while looking for old cruisers I will score a garage find of a Yoder. A lot to learn and there are still a lot of 12 hour days left in these old bones. I am happy to be here and privileged to have the opportunity to learn from each of you. I only hope that through my journey, I too may give something back to all those who are generous enough to share on forums such as this one. thank you frank |
