Just a point of information that I discovered after Irma went through here last year. My landline phone and cell phone still worked. For a couple of days. Then the backup batteries failed at the substations and cell towers. I was totally disconnected from the world and couldn't even drive off of my property because of a broken utility pole and crossbar dangling in my driveway outside the gate. That was just a strange feeling.
So don't count on having any kind of communication it the power is down for an extended period of time.
After the storm passes and if you still have communication capabilities, call folks to let them know what your circumstances are because you may lose that capability after a few days if the power is down extensively like it was here.
