I got it to fit without much fuss. I'm not going to mess with the arms and blades right now' I'll get that when I start the finish work. I need to get the welding done on the windshield mating surface and get the floor welded up next.

Right side is done. I had to dig out all the sound deadening foam from inside the windshield mounting surface. It is very flammable. I should replace it when I'm finished welding, there's a lot of heat and sound shielding on this firewall and I'd like to keep that. I'll decide when I'm finished welding on the firewall.

Next, I finished tying in the left and right sides of the windshield mounting surface to the side windshield frames.
Then I got the left floor and firewall tied in to the 49 hinge pillar. I shot some primer on the welds and finished with seam sealer. I started doing the same on the right side and ran out of MIG wire. I think this was the 4th 10 pound roll in this build. Anyway, this is as far as I got. I ran up and got another roll but by the time I got back, I had lost my fire. I'll finish it off tomorrow.

Progress. I finished welding the right side and replaced the sound deadener that I removed to drill out spot welds then black chassis saver.

Ughh!!! 90 degrees and 93% humidity. This is why I have to cover bare metal with epoxy primer as soon as possible.
I wasn't about to do any welding today. I did a little light work. I made the plates for the wheel center caps instead. I used some black 1/4" thick plexiglass to make the background and used CTS crest and wreath grill emblems. I chose these wheels because they were loosely patterned after the 61 and 62 Cadillac hub caps. I like em.

Jack, those wheels are a great choice. Keep going!

Colorado Customs wheels. Those are the exact same wheels we’ll be getting for the ‘49 Mercury 4 door to 2 door conversion project! Though we obviously plan to do a custom Merc emblem or logo on the centercaps when the time comes.

It's still way too hot to get into any heavy work. It is supposed to start cooling down tomorrow so in the mean time, I've been taking care of some minor stuff that doesn't require much effort. I installed the CTS door check arms to the lower door hinges and they work well. Then I got the door latches and strikers mounted. These door latches are operated electronically. There is a button on the outside of the car to get in, and one on the inside to get out. There are also cables that come from each latch so you can get in and out of the car if the power fails from an accident or the battery dies and you can't get in or out.
I also installed the fire wall insulator pad and the accelerator and brake pedals. (All from the CTS)

First test fit of the dash. Almost there. It needs to go down about one inch and forward about two inches. I need to do a little trimming around where it meets the corners of the windshield.
I removed the welded on side brackets from the CTS hinge pillars and need to weld them to the 49. When I get the dash in place, I'll tack them in, remove the dash and finish welding them in.
