I thought I'd post how the 1st one came out, here is the leading process:160.jpg
The rust from the flux drove me crazy, it rusted everything in the shop! I'd have to scotchbrite the metal every day to keep it clean to work on it.
I made radius dies (3 & 3 1/2") to make the bends in the pan brake and made a pair of fixtures to clamp it all together:189.jpg
The fuel pickup was a chore having to reach in thru a very limit access, the pickup went thru the back wall and was soldered to the bottom so they had to be fixed in place, all joints were soldered:185.jpg
The end caps went on pretty good, I did tackweld the seam and leaded over it. I had a leak and created several more leaks in the process of fixing it. After cleaning the outside I applied Ospho to it:195.jpg
I applied etching primer, a coat of GM Satin Black and a thick coating of rubberized undercoating, here it is alongside the original:201.jpg
