Default '64 Merc

A friend of mine has this '64 Merc that's in a pretty bad shape. It has some technical and rust issues. He wants to get it all fixed in the next year and just started stripping it. He is giving me the opportunity to work on the sheet metal. Previous owners did a bad job and made things worse. I'm sure I can do better than that but I will likely have a lot of questions for you guys along the way.

This is it's current state.

The boots drip rails consist of rust and were held together with bondo. The corners are completely gone.

I'm excited to start working on this project as I have never worked on a car before. A great opportuity for me to learn a lot. I'm prety confident I can fix things like the roofs front corners and boot floor. The drip rails and rear end of the roof will be a bigger challenge, especially since they are so far gone that I can't read how they were originally constructed and of course the fitting of the boot lid will be a challenge.

It'll be a while before I'll get back with progress pics since there's a lot more stripping to do first. I'll keep you guys updated.

Joris, quite a few of those areas look very familiar to the 65 Ford Fairlane I redid, especially boot drip rails. Here is a link to my build thread if the pictures may help you out any.
