Welcome Norm. Glad we finally got you registered.

WOW! Your website shows some awesome work. I remember a sports car from the 60's called Old Yeller. Is that the one you restored?

Hi Norm, I will take you up on that offer! I'm in San Jose, so I'll need to wait until I have some time after the holidays, but I am very impressed and would LOVE to meet you and see the shop!

Default Thanks for the welcome

Discussion forums are new to me and I am really enjoying the opportunity to share info. When I started learning shaping in the mid 80's, I would have given anything to visit an up and running metalshaping shop just to see how things work and maybe ask some questions.
That's why I want to invite a few members to my shop. I thought you could watch as I work on the Porsche speedster and I could then answer Questions. I think it would be cool to shoot a brief video and post it on AMS.Do any of you have any video skills?
To answer the questions asked, Yes Terry, that is Old Yeller built on the last chassis made by Max Balkowski. My customer was a close friend of Max an the entire car was made from pictures. I have pics of the car painted which I will soon put on my website along with updated pics of the speedster.
My pettinggill hammer is an interesting story. I was working one friday and got a call from a friend telling me to stop what I was doing and get my butt to Vallejo (a town about 15 miles away) there was a guy cleaning out a shop of a man who had recently passed and he was taking power hammers to the scrapyard! When I arrived he was about to load a deep throat hammer on his truck not even knowing what it was!
I told him I would do him afavor and give him a hundred bucks for thi big hunk of scrap and he wouldnt have to make the trip to the junkyard and he jumped at the chance.I dont have to tell you guys I was one happy metalman on the ride home!
I will pick a date after the newyear and we'll get together and have some fun. Thanks boys for making me feel welcome. Norm
