There are a few Panels in my Shed that look similar to that mashed up one.

Good on you for getting back to it and learning from the first attempt. Only way to learn.

It's been a while since I've added to this, so here are a few significant pieces I've made that got me swearing a lot.

As you can see, this slam panel requires replacement as the lacy metal is bit thin to fill with mig. The complete cross member is available, but it's just the top section that's knackered.

This is the tool I made from aluminium

And this what I got

So after tipping flanges & trimming, I'm getting closer

So a trial fit with the outer panel it's ready to weld up

And all tidied up. like new

Thanks Pugsy, Carl, Kent & Richard, high praise indeed, much appreciated,

This rather tired looking piece of metal has had its day...

This is a technical piece for me, I started where you should finish on this part, by putting the flange in first, my thinking was the complex shape would not twist out of shape if I did this first...

So I took a pattern & cut this, then put a 15mm flange on it..

Then after a lot of shrinking, shaping on the stake, cuts & bruises etc, I got to this stage with both halves tacked together..

Then tig welded them up..

Then after some metal finishing & fettling, it seems to fit

Then welded up, nice & shiney
