Default Hello

Hey everybody. I am a 31 year old mechanical engineer that loves to build and design all sorts of things from soft sewn goods to injection molded parts. I'm also into casting my own parts and I'm currently looking into building all the tools I will need to play with sheet metal.

Thanks for having me

Nicholas Tomczak

Default Welcome

Nicholas;
I am also a mechanical engineer, but retired now for 3 years. You will find many engineers on this forum, both by education and by experience and skill.
I am in Nebraska so it is unlikely that we will meet in person, enjoy the forum!

Hi Nicholas,
Welcome to the forum.
There have been a few fellows so focused on building things that in order to build their own personal airplanes from scratch they started by building their tool chests. Making tools is sometimes necessary and we can expend serious effort getting a tool right. However, I see life as finite and so I go about my various projects by making careful choices.

Nicholas,
Welcome and hello. You will find that there is a vast set of experience among the people. There is also a large variety of projects as well. A lot of the projects people are building and then posting, often contain the tools they built to assist them in making the project or a specific piece of the project. These tools range from the overly simple to the very intricate, frankly I have been amazed by the abilities. The search function is also very good and you can also ask for assistance from the experienced.

I wish you well in your endeavors.

Dave
