Default Problems seeing Rondo's photos

OK, let's see if we can't get the bottom of the problems some of you are having seeing posts in Rondo's thread:

Here is the thread:

http://www.allmetalshaping.com/showthread.php?t=201

Some folks see the photos and some folks don't. I see them on both MozillaFirefox and IE.

These particular photos are actually hosted on this site in Rondo's album. If you can see them in his album but not in the post then that would tell us that the issue is in the process that links the photos from the post to the album. If you can't see them in the album, it tells us something else...not sure what yet but it's a different problem

So, the first question is what do you see when you look here:

http://www.allmetalshaping.com/album.php?albumid=31

You SHOULD see thumbnails of Rondo's photos. Clicking on them should show the larger images.

If you see them in the post you don't need to tell us but if you don't please let us know so we can work on this issue.

Hi, this is a little technical, but here it is -

The correct URL for the one of the images looks like:

Code:
http://www.allmetalshaping.com/picture.php?albumid=31&pictureid=401
The URL inside the post page that is causing problems has been mangled a little bit:

Code:
http://allmetalshaping.com/picture.php?albumid=31&pictureid=401
There are two problems that stop the image from loading
1. The missing www from the start of the URL
2. The '&' being converted into '&'

I don't know enough about the forum software to say what is causing that. Maybe the act of cutting and pasting the links by the poster caused them to get mangled a little bit on their computer (the ampersand was converted into the HTML code for an ampersand). I guess some browsers are smart enough to figure out what to do, or the message board software sends them slightly different HTML. (Doesn't work on Safari on mac).

Yep, I see that one just fine Johnny.

I was thinking about what "hammers" said about the code he posted above, specifically with regards to the "&amp" part of it, which I remember seeing just after Metalmeet migrated to vBulleten. It seemed that all instances of the symbol "&" appeared as "&amp" on the new site, and it took me quite a while to edit all of them out of the text in my threads.

I doubt it's the exact same issue, but I wonder if the "&amp" characters in the forum thread code are enough to fool my browser (it's IE8, so it ain't that bright), and that's why I can see them in the gallery but not in the forum.

If one of you chaps would be so kind as to edit that bit of code in one of the image links, I'll check again later to see if the image shows up for me in the forum thread.

Ken

KenB, I copied the first picture in Rondo's post to my computer and then added it Rondos post using the BB code. Can you see the first picture okay now? When I check the properties of the pictures in Rondo's post and the properties in the post itself they are the same. Not sure what is happening but I know there are several ways to get pictures in the post. It appears that some work for all and others only work for some of us. The one I reposted in Rondo's post shows up with and IMG code before and after the picture when I look at it. I am using Mozilla Foxfire on a PC Windows XL.

Thanks Gator, I think the one you see in Rondo's post is the one that I reposted using the BB code. Don't know what that means yet but it is more information.
