For the most part, your choice of hammer more or less dictates the manner and force used in the process. (Wouldn't recommend the rounded end of a ball peen! )

I'd try a High Lift or "farm jack" and use it in the "fence stretching" mode. Place a wood block on the inside and a "bridge" on the top. Push the block into the gap in the bridge.

A dead blow hammer will work as well. You just don't want to stretch the metal and mar it. I usually start off with heavy and large and go lighter and smaller the closer you get to the right shape.

well. got some progress. it’s close to the right shape, used a jack and a dead blow hammer. tried a body hammer from below first, and there was too much bounce. it just ended up marring the surface. i hope to try a slipper and a bigger dolly to smothen it out. if not, this will definitely work at least. plus there will be a windshield track right there, so it may hide a lot of it.

trying to add pics from phone, but it’s saying invalid file. read the stickies about attaching pics, couldn’t find answer. will try again tomorrow.
