Default Thanks from Atlanta

Hi and thanks to all, my name is Mike from Atlanta, GA “originally from Pittsburgh PA”. I’ve been a long time lurker and learner. Sorry I haven’t posted any pics but 99% of my metal shaping is accomplished at work, and you know how some business can be about pictures!!! We have large power brakes, 12’ and 6’ shears, four Eckold machines, a hydro press and 2 drop hammers.
I would like to eventually build the car that is my avatar, (I hope it’s up there). At the moment I’m restoring a 1978 formula that was purchased by my mom and dad as they were going thru their mid life crisis, I was thirteen at the time. I’m close to paint, a few more horrible weeks of block sanding. After finishing the formula the gears will be switched to making a thumbnail shrinker and maybe a planishing hammer. (I’ve been scrounging and saving pieces, I think I have everything except the time)
I had taken a two day class from Kent White in Atlanta and had taken Lazze’s step one and step two class in Oakdale CA.
Thanks to all for sharing your knowledge and expertise, I have learned so much. Mike

Mike, welcome to AllMetalShaping and thanks for the introduction. Sound like you have a lot of really nice equipment to work with at your day job. Looking forward to seeing some of your personal projects. We like pictures of any of the projects that you get involved with.

Welcome Mike. Your advice on the care and feeding of my Eckold was greatly appreciated.

I hope you can make it over to the DixieLand '10 meet next month.

Got any larger photos of your dream car?

I've been kicking around this car also, I think the width of the avatar car is going too narrow inside because of the way the rear quarters sweep out from the roof.

My roadster is 48" side to side at the seats. I'd hate to be in anything much tighter....
