Joe
here's my large wheel and reciprocating machine. I posted them on MM and wasn't sure if it was worth putting them up here as well. Both machines were inspired by ideas collected on MM. I never copy anything, I always try and improve or modify to suit my planned use. largewheel.jpg recipro.jpg

Nice work on the machines Clayton. Since a couple of us are more or less banned and can't see photos on Randy's metalmeet and others don't go there, we appreciate you going to the trouble to post them here also.
Can you tell some details of your stub axle setup. On our 16S machine I see some deflection from the 3/4" stub axle shaft. Yours looks to be considerably larger diameter.

Tim I thought Wellington NZ was small......I just walked down Main Street using google street view......the place is dead. It's a shame because I like small towns, usually great places to bring up kids.

Ok I see now it is worth double posting these.
The stub axle started as 50mm hi tensile, turned down to 35mm for the wheel bearings. Rock solid, no flex. I can credit you Kerry for the frame design, I just added my own touches here and there.

Yes, Wellington, IL is a "bedroom community". When my sister lived there, the local "grocery store" was run out of someone's garage. Aside from the post office, that was it! It used to be a small country town with a few businesses and some light manufacturing. Unfortunately, many of the small towns around here have ended up the same or are headed that way.

I thought it was kinda strange walking down Main Street, no shops?

No shops, not even a petrol station within something like 6 miles.
Nice looking machines! Tim D. |
