Mine cost me £10 and I got enough to make 3or 4 14" bags plus a few slappers so I'm well chuffed.

I got my leather at a Tandy leather shop. They have pieces big enough to make a 12" bag in the scrap bin, most for under $10.00.

Alright, I have never made anything from leather or bought any, so I had no idea on cost. Scrap bin definitely sounds like a good place to get the material.

They have a couple of different sizes at TP Tools

I got the 18in circular & filled it with lead, probably weighs 150lb or more...

This isn't leather, but I made it using an old truck inner tube. I filled it with play sand. I folded the edges over 3 times and used leather shoe strings to sew the edges. It isn't fancy, but is saves money to spend on car parts.

This is one I am going to try, I want to see how the rubber reacts vs leather. Thanks for posting.

I'm going to cut up an old leather car coat for a sleeve to protect my new TIG cables, the leather is suede-like on the inside. Around here, church sales have "bag day" where you fill a shopping bag with as much clothing as you can for 1-3 dollars on the last day, just to get rid of the stuff nobody wanted. Nobody wants a torn leather coat or old purse, other than the recyclers like me.
