Default sand casting

hey guy im new here. love the site. i want to make some parts for a custom truck im building and want to know how and where to get the stuff to make sand castings? thanks for the help

Hi Jason, Sand casting is a bit off topic here but we have at least one member who does some. Grant Leeser (Gleeser), if he doesn't PM you, with the info you can search for him in the members list under community. I know he's referred me to a casting forum on occasion.

Casting zinc/mazak is easy (low temp).

Aluminum a bit more difficult since the required temperature is higher and getting the gas out of the melt is required to get a good part. And it shrinks a lot which means you must understand how to avoid shrink holes in the casting.

Brass/bronze requires even higher temperatures, but easier to get a good part.

And cast iron, forget it until you have done a lot in aluminum and brass.

That was pretty short on what could be written a book on. And there are books.
