Hello everyone,

Metal bashing is a drug I find impossible to give up. Spent a lifetime (so far) in engineering from product design to manufacture, mainly mechanical but do dabble in electronics and optics from time to time.
Spent the rest of my time awake, in my workshop, welding up old and new cars, building and repairing engines, & generally making and repairing "stuff"

Previous projects: Linishers, bandsaws, wood burning stoves, trailers, power barrows, recently excavator rakes, root ripper, and buckets, remade and replaced a Ford ranger chassis and a designed and made centrifuge for oil cleaning, list is almost endless.

Retired now with a new house and a bit of ground and one small garage. So have a long way to go to get back to the previous workshop facility. Some of my equipment is functional the rest is jammed into a container.

Landscaping on the agenda before any workshop facility can be built. So playing with heavy plant.
When the weather is not permitting I'm in the office thinking of, and designing new stuff.

Current projects: Excavator thumb, soil screener, (she wants a veg plot, & I ain’t sieving 1/5 acre by hand!)

I tend to design from scratch CAD etc but sometimes look at other peoples efforts. In the case of the root ripper, couldn't find a product to buy that I thought fulfilled all or most of the criterion, so I designed my own. Emailed the files to a local cnc cutting shop in Glasgow. made a jig for the hitch pin spacing, and welded up the bits. Works very well.

Future project English wheel ...........when there is somewhere to put it, and I have accumulated enough bits.
Found a load of box section whilst skip (Dumpster?) raiding a few years ago.... 8x4" 4x4" etc lengths up to about 8 feet and thought...... English wheel... I’ve needed one of those for years!
(I did make a contribution to the steelworks tea fund!)
