The 3-M pads that jeffb mentioned are great for this purpose. They work well on steel also but not as fast. I use them on my 2 & 3" air tools with a stainless steel plate behind them to reduce flex.

I used the Erco kick & pneumatic shrinker when I was a fabricator at Lockheed and we kept a roll of 2" emory cloth for that very reason. It will leave you with a nice surface on aluminum but didn't work well on steel.
