That message normally indicates that the picture is too large. Resize it to a smaller size and it should work.

Attention Members

When attaching photos to your post it works best if they are jpeg format and please keep the size to a maximum dimension of 1200 x 1200.

1000 as the largest dimension would even be better!

Thanks Your admin Team

]Testing. Trying to post pictures from Android phone. (Most of my pictures are there) After uploading attachments it doesn't seem to list pictures on paperclip icon to insert them. Am I doing something wrong? I can go back later on a computer and I can manage them from the paperclip icon, it just doesn't seem to let me do it from my phone

Can't help you with the phone. Works normally on the computer. I added them in so they show up.

Hi Steve
Tim Doty is not on here very often, so I will try to help.

The editor is part of the Allmetalshaping forum software, so no download needed.

All photos need to be reduced in size to no more than 1200 by 1200

At this time we have found no way to reduce photo size on Apple I pads.

The I pad photos would need to be down loaded to another pic then resized before attaching.

Are you using an apple product?

are you using a camera and a Microsoft based pic?

I will wait for your answers before I continue.

If you would like to talk on the phone call me @ 920-924-9000

Steve

Thanks Steve;
I am using a Microsoft based P/C and digital camera. I will ask here so others can see. If I have trouble understanding I will call.

Ok steve
There is a free software that is available online FastStone. Many of the members use it. This will make it very easy to reduce a group of photos in one batch. It's not too difficult to learn.

If you already have a program on your PC to resize it will work too

Some cameras may have a setting to limit photo size which would eliminate that part of the process!

We require that photos be no larger than 1200 by 1200 for a couple reasons
Server space cost money
Consistent photo size keeps the post on a screen tha does not require the use of a slider to view the whole photo.

I reviewed the process that Tdoty posted back in 2009 and it looks like it is due for an update. Our electronics have evolved.

Before you post on the site the reduced photos should be in a file on your computer.
If the photos in your camera are small enough, you can connect it with the computer and use it as external drive.

If not you must copy or move them to your computer and resize to 1200 by 1200 max. Smaller is ok but too small makes the picture hard to see.

Click on reply to thread just like to post only text.
Click on the paper clip in the header (I'm using windows 8.1)
A new window appears manage attachments
Click choose file button which then open your computer files
Find the picture that you want and double click on it.
The top line of the manage atttachment now shows that photo
Do that for each photo
Then click the upload button
Now the attachments are loaded to the site, but not in your post.
Close that window or move it aside
Now when you highlight the paper clip it shows your picture list
Place the cursor where you want the photo
Best if you put a couple line spaces (return) between photos and text.
Then click the picture or pictures, or select all at the bottom of the list

Hope this is clear
Steve

Steve;
There were pictures in the Manage Attachments window from the past the were not resized and they are to big. How do I delete them and load new resized photos from my computer? --- and --- are we limited on the number of pictures we can load. ----- I am sure it is more than 9. Qkiss

This was uploaded directly from a I phone. Go to photos edit crop to 9:16 and you are good to go. Should be the same for I pad.
