Default 1974 VW camper bus

I have picked enough tips and tricks form this site to give me enough confidence to tackle this roof patch for a 74 VW camper bus. I had practiced shapes like this before but had never done one to match a needed repair.IMG_1421.jpg I started with a flexible pattern and cut a 18 ga. blank that was about 3 times the size I needed as I wanted a good blend of contours. A light shrink on the stump and wheeling followed by plenishing quickly produced the basic shape.IMG_1424 (2).jpg I managed to find a combination of beading dies that I was satisfied was a good match to the original. Once trimmed and fit it was off to welding and some more plenishing.IMG_1431.jpg. This repair was the first time I had applied a round corner to the repair panel and was impressed with the finished results.

Invention is a combination of brains and materials.
The more brains you use, the less materials you need.
