Yoder Style Power Hammer
Being a metal shaper and having used the Yoder and Pettingell hammers, I realized the benefits of a cast machine and decided to build a professional new style of power hammer. I chose the advanced design of the larger Yoder power hammer K-90-M as a starting point and also got some ideas from the Pettingell hammer. What I was able to accomplish was to remove the majority of harmonic vibration from the lower arm. This means the lower arm does not need to be tied down giving you much more clearance for your panels. All stationary parts are made of high quality cast iron. The ram and bell crank are made of high carbon steel, heat-treated and stress relieved. The ram guide has a brass shim like in a Yoder hammer. The hammer operates with a hydraulic cone clutch without any linkages for ease of control and smoothness Easy to lubricate – all grease nipples are easily accessible.
All casting and machining made in Canada. Shipping weight is 3,600 pounds which includes the16” post · Electric Motor 2hp – 1200RPM · Size 42” throat · Dies 3”X3” · Total Height 8’ · Length 58” · Width 54” Price: $22,500 (cad) - Hammer with basic set of dies (Basic set of dies includes 1 set of shrinking dies, low, med, and high crown, 1flat, 1 radial stretching) yoder hammer 15-05-2012 014.jpg yoder hammer 15-05-2012 015.jpg yoder hammer 15-05-2012 016.jpg yoder hammer 15-05-2012 019.jpg

I test drove this thing last month and having spent a lot of time on a yoder and pettingell recently, this thing is really smooth and easy to control. Its high on my wish list.

Renato even got rid of that Yoder hump on the front of the ram so you can install a thrust plate when using shrinking dies. It would certainly keep the V-ways from being beaten to death which can only be a good thing . ~ John Buchtenkirch
