Looks really good Kerry!! You putting running boards on it? To me it looks like it needs them. I like patern you made for the shroud. I need to do one in the near future and will use that, thanks!

Edit
You have to be excited having it this close!! I admire and respect your drive and pateints.

Probably no running boards Jeff. The black you see is the frame because the rocker panels haven't been made yet. Once those are on, I'll decide if I want running boards or not.

Getting ready for the meet has been really impacting my roadster work but I found a couple days and closed in the rest of the area below the decklid.

This is a very difficult little panel and after fighting it a while I gave up and welded two pieces.

The license plate is going to be recessed below the decklid at the bottom. Currently both fenders are welded together but ultimately they will be separate and bolt into a structure that holds them together.

I also had to redo the area in the left fender closest to the decklid to get the gaps right. This gap stuff is HARD!!!!

LOTS of hand work still to do.

Got some work done on the roadster after things quieted down during the meet.

I've been looking and thinking about the fender side vents for a year and finally just took my body saw and cut the holes. Serious pucker factor!

Then I built some scoops to weld in the holes. This was really quite difficult. The geometry is fairly complex because the scoops themselves are curved inward and the fenders curve outward at a different rate.

I used the kick stretcher to make the scoops curve. There is a 1/2" radius on the bends. The first scoop was done over a post dolly but the second was done over a radius die on the Magnabend break I bought from Dan Pate.

Then the fenders were pulled from the car and put on the big welding table so I could work them easier. The cut lines were cleaned up and the scoops fit to the holes.

The cut lines were radiused over using a handheld dolly and slapper.

More photos in the camera....

I thought there were more photos of the scoops but this is the only one so far. Ready for cleanup.

Yeah Yeah, I know, crappy welds that will take a lot of finish time.

The leading edge was tipped by hand and folded over.

A lot of bumping but I'm pleased with the look.

I think the side panels really set off the front of the car and work really well in the overall design of the car. You have a good eye for detail.
I would love for my crappy welds to look as good as your so called crappy welds. Still hate I did not get to make it down for the meet, life happens.
Thanks for the great posts on this thread!

I got some more shots of the roadster at Kerry's meet....I even got to drive it! Ok, about 6 feet in reverse and 6 feet in first, but I still drove it! Yes, I can reach the pedals!

Once Monique got her hair, she left me alone and I got to work on the roadster a while bossy witch....

I've been wanting to finish the headlights and got the right fender done today. Still a lot of filing and some bumping needed.

What made this interesting was that each side of the light has completely different shapes so making a panel that flowed into the light housing and also into the fender was a challenge. Ended up doing it in two pieces. I just free handed it because I was too lazy to do a Burt buck. In retrospect I should have done the buck so I could have made a FSP. You think I'd learn.

Once this is cleaned up, I'll be able to pull a FSP, reverse it and do the left side. I still to file the welds on the left fender vent and do some other clean up there also..
