Intro from another aussie
Hey Guys,
I am not that skilled with sheet metal work as the most complicated things i have made is a locost (Lotus 7 replica) AL skin and few brackets. But currently int he design stage to build a full AL monocoque Lotus 60's F1 car inspired track day toy and found the information on this forum to be very helpful (Ozi's 206 thread has some great ideas i am going borrow). Going to expand the tool collection to add an english wheel, a small fingered folder and some hammers, etc with the tax return. I am in Melbourne. My locost: Any to show my terribly basic metal working skills with the body off: Thanks, Taffy |

Possibly the opposite side of melbourne, i am out in point cook. But dont mind stretching its legs. At the moment its leather jacket and helmet when i leave the garage else it feels like your face is going to fall off!
Looks like a very nice set up you have, do have car clubs come and do short visits? Cheers, Taffy

Hello Taffy,
The pics of your Car just reminded me that I have to wheel up some Bike Guards for mine.

I cheated and made from them from fibreglass... My bonnet took 3 attempts to get to fit even remotely.
The photos make the car look better then it is! The nose, front and rear guards are all glass, while the bonnet, sides, interior panels and rear are all AL. The exhaust cover is steel, cheated again laser cut and rolled by a shop. Welded in some internal flanges to stiffen. The floor steel which has folded in rails for stiffness. Beam and torsional was just a touch under 5000Nm/deg. Final weight was 640kg, running a BMW M44 with ~130hp to a 5 speed. Cheers, Taffy
