Default Jack Hammer shaping

Using air/pneumatic impact tools can save your arm and your time.
One of my long-time students, George Schroeder, http://www.schroederart.com/
asked me about up-grading his air motors to do 1/8in copper, a few years back.

I suggested a 5/8in. bridge riveter and instead, he came home from a local garage sale with an old jack hammer and then he made up a good hammer die for it.

Annealing .125" copper takes some heat.

The buck has to be accurate

The copper bowl for the Celtic fountain turned out nicely.

5-sided, with radial hammer strikes around the rim, it is riveted and sealed and sits on a carved granite base. A really nice job! - done with a jack hammer.

That's beautiful. I love copper art. One day I'll have a bash at something copper, too! Thanks for sharing Kent 👍

Invention is a combination of brains and materials.
The more brains you use, the less materials you need.
