November 2020 MSOTM
The Admins have decided to honor TheRodDoc this November. he has not posted any current metalshaping due to health issues, but he has been a valuable contributor of posts and threads over the years
Richard Crees has been an active member of the metalshaping community even before the internet and the online forums. When the metalshapers assoc. got started in 2000, Richard along with a number of talented professional shapers stepped up to show a new generation the tools and processes. Richard spent countless hours to create animated computer graphics that showed how the mechanisms functioned in the common shaping equipment. These were fantastic tools to explain why one machine would be a better choice for the task at hand. Remember this was before cell phone cameras, youtube, and social media. Most of us had no idea how a pullmax or a power hammer worked. Unfortunately those cumputer models were all lost when the Metalshapers Assoc. dissolved. Here are some threads that you will probably find very interesting. http://allmetalshaping.com/showthrea...=4362#post4362 truss style structural frames post #23 http://allmetalshaping.com/showthrea...=4390#post4390 stump tuck shrinking post #61 http://allmetalshaping.com/showthrea...=4504#post4504 Long tig welds no filler post #16 http://allmetalshaping.com/showthrea...2253#post12253 bending custom flanges with a common break post #7 http://allmetalshaping.com/showthrea...7036#post17036 Steve |
Congratulations Richard. Great ideas. The excavator wins.
Many engineers have already returned their diplomas and prefer to do something else.:lol::lol: |
Congratulations! I remember seeing some of these posts, but no the excavator one. Good stuff!

Bravo Richard ! You are one of the very skilled and creative "old guys." Love the "country-style" Cecostamp. :p |
Richard was one of the early knowledgeable folks at MetalShapers Association, the original and first forum for metalshaping. His CAD work especially helped a lot of grasp some difficult concepts. Thanks Richard.
