My name is Tony. I am looking to learn all I can about metal work. I want to make working with metal a career, not just a job. My biggest hurdle is going from the classroom to real shop experience. I was fortunate enough to get an opportunity in a shop. Now I have to show the boss I am worth keeping

Welcome Tony.

Best thing to improve you skills, is a desire to do better work. I'm a noob to metal working and still have lots to learn. Irony is started body working 40 years ago on "foreign imports", but only in the last few years have gotten back into it. We used to buy dead cars, fix them up, and resell them. Pocket money, and how I saved for college (Datsun 510 with a bad engine $200, Import Engine $250, another $100 in parts.... sold for $750). $200-$250 per car, when I was making $2.25/hour was good money.

Hi Tony and welcome!
Their are several here that make a living shaping metal.
But to make a good living, you have to be very good at it.:D
So I would recommend, buying some DVD's and watch them more then once.
