Hello
I trained as an engineer at a heavy engineering company but have always had an interest in cars both modern and classic. When I started to restore my first Austin Healey I couldn't buy suitable panels so I set about making my own, this was in the mid 1980's. I can now just about make a complete car from sheet metal. It has also led to my hobby becoming a way of earning a crust! I also realise there is always something to learn so hence joining this forum. I have made or refurbished the tools I use and all of the press tools are of my own design and construction. Please have a look at my (home constructed so nothing fancy) website www.davehardwick.co.uk Dave http://www.davehardwick.co.uk/_Media/dsc_0660_med.jpeg http://www.davehardwick.co.uk/_Media/dsc_1855_med.jpeg http://www.davehardwick.co.uk/_Media...656-2_med.jpeg http://www.davehardwick.co.uk/_Media/dsc_0536_med.jpeg http://www.davehardwick.co.uk/_Media/dsc_0671_med.jpeg |
Welcome to the forum, Dave :)
Just had a look through the pictures on your site - lovely work! |
Hi Dave,
Welcome to the forum, nice work on those Healeys. I have a basket case 100/4 to play with, started off with a chassis, bought some panels for patterns, gonna be a few years yet before it turns a wheel. I noticed the shrinker you made with Eckold dies, cool, electrical or hydraulic? Ps I need a short engine if you know of one for sale, I'm only in Brum. |
Welcome to the forum, your photos show some great work.
I'm near Banbury Oxfordshire. Dave |
Nice work Dave, you're not a million miles from me I see, my workshop is in Burton on Trent. Looking forward to seeing more of your work on here.

Very nice work Dave :D welcome to the forum

Thanks for the welcome and comments.
Maxakarudy the shrinking machine I have made is mechanical, it's basically a cam operating a rocker arm (with a Healey rear wheel bearing as a follower!) that then moves the shrinking/stretching heads up and down. I will post some pics if you like? I'm looking forward to spending a few hours looking through posts for inspiration. Dave |
Hello Dave and welcome to the site.
Please share the photos of your machine. :p :D ;) Jere |
Hi Dave,
We all love self made tools a round here:) |
A couple of shots of the shrinking M/C I made. I will post a bit more detail in the Shringer Stretcher section.
